Do you like turmeric? Have you ever had it in milk?
I will share a delicious recipe with you momentarily right after I tell you about some of the amazing health benefits!
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is that orangey root that looks similar to ginger and stains everything yellow. Mustard contains turmeric and you know mustard…it manages to get everywhere and turn everything in the world yellow!!
BUT here is the good news, that little root is very, very powerful. It is a natural anti-inflammatory because it contains curcumin, one of the most beneficial anti-inflammatory compounds in the world.
Did you realize you could dye fabric with turmeric? Well since it stains so well, why not.
This root can help reduce high cholesterol and high blood sugar. I have a quick remedy that is also yummy –
just mix 1 teaspoon turmeric and 1 teaspoon cinnamon with 2 tablespoons of honey. Mix well – keep in the refrigerator and take a spoonful a day as is or in tea.
Turmeric is also a natural blood thinner and helpful in the prevention of cancer. So go ahead and eat your turmeric – put some in a salt shaker to sprinkle on eggs, vegetables and meat or make the following warm, rich beverage – it is soooo good!
Turmeric Almond Milk Latte Recipe
1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon ground organic turmeric
1 Tablespoon extra virgin organic coconut oil
1 Tablespoon raw honey
1/4 teaspoon organic ground cinnamon
Heat the milk, turmeric and coconut oil in a stainless steel pot on medium. Do not boil. Add the honey and mix until honey dissolves with 1-2 minutes. Not too long, just enough to get the honey incorporated.
Pour into a mug and add the cinnamon on top. Sit and relax and enjoy!
Have a beautiful day. 🙂
