Grapefruit juice by itself makes an excellent styling lotion because it is full of natural sugars that help hold the hair in place.

The protein from the gelatin in this Pink Grapefruit Styling Gel recipe gives hair extra body. You can find glycerin at most drugstores in the skin-care section. MAKES 8 OUNCES

• 1/2 cup warm water
• 1 packet unflavored gelatin (about 1 tablespoon)
• 1/2 cup fresh pink grapefruit juice
• 1 teaspoon glycerin

1. Combine warm water and gelatin. Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add grapefruit juice and glycerin. Stir mixture until well combined. Refrigerate until solid; this could take a couple of hours. Remove from the refrigerator and allow gel to return to room temperature before using.

2. To use: Apply a small amount to your hair before or after drying to add body and hold.

Tip: Grapefruit juice by itself makes an excellent styling lotion because it is full of natural sugars that help hold the hair in place.
