I’m kind of picky about what I use on my face. My olive skin is oily with dry patches here and there, and I’m prone to breakouts at high-stress times (journalism isn’t probably not the best business to be in with my skin all crazy like this).

So when I tried Beyond Organic Skincare, I was excited to see that the ingredients are organic, nothing else. But it was also a little jarring to feel the consistency of the cleanser–creamy, waxy…kind of oily.

This is most likely because of the uber-moisturizing ingredients: cocoa butter, macadamia nut oil, gold of pleasure oil, sesame oil and beeswax, to name a few.

Despite knowing those ingredients, I went ahead and applied as directed (massaging gently into my skin and removing with a warm, damp cloth). When I attempted to rinse, water droplets formed on my face. This wasn’t going to work.

Perhaps for a person with dry skin, this would work well, but for me…I’ll have to just use this for eye makeup remover (the excess moisture dissolves natural mascara very well).

If you’re interested, the company does recommend mixing the product with oatmeal for an exfoliating scrub–but I’ll have to save that test for a rainy day.

Beyond Organic Detoxifying Cleanser is made in the U.K. and sells for £15.50. Any fans of Beyond out there?
