After shampooing, rinse well for at least two full minutes and use the coolest water you can stand. My mother always told me that the colder the water, the greater the shine!

If you are looking t make natural shampoo, try this basic recipe first. It’s easy to make and great on tresses. It will seem thinner in consistency than most commercial shampoos, but I assure you that the results are equivalent. MAKES 4 OUNCES

• 1/4 cup water
• 1/4 cup liquid soap, such as castile
• 1/2 teaspoon light vegetable oil (omit if you have very oily hair.)

1. Mix together all ingredients. Pour the shampoo into a clean squeeze bottle or empty shampoo bottle.

2. To use: Shampoo as you normally would and rinse well with cool water.
