I’ve been a loyalL’Occitane Amande shower oil fan for quite some time now. It’s my go-to skin care for soft, touchable skin, especially in harsh Kansas winters. But, during a trip toThe Merc! this weekend, I was intrigued by all-hailed almond castile soap with the bright green label.
EnterDr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps. These fair trade, hemp almond pure castile soaps are a competitive rival to L’Occitane in both moisturizing capabilities and luscious smell. But the biggest competitive measure–the price ($5.75)–may be enough to wean me off of my $22 French shower oil.
Besides the multi-use quality of castile soap–shampoo, body wash, shave cream–the environmental impact that this product has is low. The bottle is made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic. All oils and essential oils are certified organic. The product is never tested on animals and prides itself on being 100 percent vegan. And, the biggest attribute to this product is that it was made by people who were paid decent wages for their work–theFair Trade For Life seal ensures this.
Also, being familiar (and able to pronounce) every ingredient on the list is a sure-fire way to know whether a product is doused in chemicals:
ingredients: water, saponified organic coconut and organic olive oils, organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, natural bitter almond fragrance, citric acid, vitamin E
That’s enough for me to want to make the switch from mainstream to organic.
