Veggie gardening newbies and lifelong gardeners alike will appreciate the ease of the M Brace. Available in nine different designs, this set of four recycled steel braces builds raised garden beds in under 2 minutes and doesn’t require the use of any tools. Simply slide in any type of wood from 4′-12′ long and it’s ready to plant up. Made in the USA. Available online at Art of the Garden. Price: $139.99/set of four braces. Jill Plumb, inventor of the M Brace, also created M Brace Minis to inspire kids to build their own gardens (they’re also good for small space urban gardens), and to reduce further waste, she created plant stakes and garden edgers from the recycled steel cutout remnants of various M Brace designs.

The Gardener’s Hollow Leg ($29.95) is a water-resistant, 100% post-consumer recycled polyester sack that is attached to a belt and meant to be worn while working in the garden, collecting debris or harvesting. It is designed to be worn around the waistso hands are free to focus on any otherjob. Whether pruning, dead-heading, weeding, cleaning or even harvesting fruits and vegetables, it completely eliminates the need to lug around a bucket or create “make work” piles of clippings that need to be picked up later. The belt can also easily accommodate a clipper-holster (not included), and there’s even a Velcro-closed pocket for a cell phone or iPod. All packaging materials used on The Gardener’s Hollow Leg are printed on recycled paper with vegetable inks and are compostable, including the cellophane. Available online at The Gardener’s Hollow Leg
