In the heat of the summer, peppermint soap is my first choice. It has a way of cooling the hottest skin and easing mild sunburns. When traveling long distances, I always keep a “sniffing bar” of peppermint soap on the dashboard to keep me awake.
• 12 ounces lye
• 32 ounces water
• 24 ounces coconut oil
• 38 ounces vegetable shortening
• 24 ounces olive oil
• 4 ounces peppermint oil or a blend of peppermint and spearmint oils
• 1/2 cup dried and crushed peppermint leaf
