The linen closet is the perfect spot for the clean, floral fragrance of lavender.

• Gather thirteen (or any other odd number) fresh lavender stems and secure them with a rubber band just below the blossoms. Holding them upside down, bend the stems down one by one.

• Anchor the end of a ribbon (at least 3 yards long and 1/4 inch wide) under your thumb. Begin weaving the free end over and under the stems. After a few rows, let go of the flowers, hold at the top, and continue weaving the ribbon until all the blossoms are encased.

• Wind the remaining ribbon around the stems and tie or pin to secure.
