Children at Chesterfield Montessori School near St. Louis, Missouri, help plant a magnolia tree for their outdoor classroom, which opened April 7, 2006. The children’s flower and vegetable garden is a new resource for collaborative teaching and learning, where they’ll develop motor skills and self-confidence by digging, mulching, weeding and pruning the pesticide-free raised beds. Links between the garden and the classroom provide other learning opportunities.
