Adding green decor to your home doesn’t always mean picking out the priciest organic item with a fair-trade label on it. Sometimes, your nearest thrift store is the easiest way to decorate greener because you’re saving something from the landfill and giving it a new purpose. That’s why I’ll share with you a few objects that you can always find at your local thrift store—and how you can repurpose them into something entirely different for your home.

Glass canisters are plentiful at the thrift shop. If you find one in a style you like but don’t know what to do with it, try re-using it as a candleholder. Containers such as these in the picture above or even antique goblet-style glasses can hold small votive candles nicely.

Oftentimes you will find cooking utensils and pans at the thrift store. You may not want to use, say, a muffin pan for its original purpose, but look at it in a whole new way and reuse it as an organizer for small items instead.
