The United States Postal Service is set to issue 29-cent Herbs postcard stamps in five designs, created in consultation with staff from The Herb Society of America. The stamps, which will be issued initially April 7 in New York City, will be in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps and a pressure-sensitive coil of 100.

Phil Jordan of Falls Church, Virginia designed the stamps, which feature various herbs used for fragrance, flavoring, medicine, and/or decoration. New York artist Teresa Fasolino created original oil paintings of each stamp.

Herb Stamps

Each stamp provides a lovely drawing of the particular species in bloom, as well as a typical leaf and flower or seed capsule. The species in the series are oregano (Origanum vulgare), flax (Linum perenne), foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and sage (Salvia officinalis). Only the herbs’ common names appear on the stamps.

What a fun thing for herb fans everywhere! If you want to order the new herb stamps online, here’s how.
