When you’re wrapping up your holiday shopping, consider shopping for a good cause. By giving all of your loved ones cookies this holiday season you may help bring kids with cancer that much closer to a cure.
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a non-profit organization committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer. It all started with Gretchen, a mother faced with her son Liam’s difficult diagnosis. Gretchen was determined to make a difference and so she set out to bake 96,000 cookies for a larger-than-life bake sale. Dozens of families with children battling this disease got involved and all 96,000 cookies were sold within three weeks.

Did you know that 46 children per day are diagnosed with cancer? That’s nearly 13,000 new diagnoses each year. The main reason more than 25 percent of kids with this disease don’t survive is because of a lack of effective therapies.
As much as I want to go on and on about how this is a good cause that should not be ignored, I would like to take a moment to talk about the cookies. We here in The Herb Companion office tried a batch of their Dark Chocolate Cranberry cookies and were immediately transported to cookie heaven. These treats are chewy and rich in chocolate and cranberry flavors. They also sell Liam’s Lemon Sugar, Ginger Spice, Chunky Peanut Butter, Chewy Oatmeal Raisin and more.
To buy these cookies for you loved ones, or to learn more about hosting your own bake sale, visit their website, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Money raised will be used to support the efforts of doctors and scientists working to create less toxic and more effective treatments for children battling cancer. Nearly 100 percent of the money raised at individual bake sales will go directly to this research.
