Sustainable Pet Design offers homes for Fido replete with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) wood, zero-VOC paint, beeswax waterproofing and a rooftop garden. Sustainable Pet Design owner Stephanie Rubin conceived of the healthy pet homes after she lost her dog to cancer. Her company custom-builds each house using untreated red cedar from FSC-managed forests, which helps repel fleas, ticks and termites.

The roof can be planted with native vegetation, which helps insulate the house and filters runoff so it’s suitable for doggie to drink (a spout directs runoff into a dish). Dig their domiciles at www.SustainablePet.com.
