People always say to get a head start by planting seeds indoors first and then moving them outside as weather permits. However, I like to skip this initial step by planting outdoors right away and simply changing the weather conditions by laying plastic sheeting over my garden. The sheeting not only uses the warmth of the sun to increase the temperature, but also protects tender seedlings from wind & critters. Condensation even waters the plants for me! Of course, this method requires a bit of care, but for it's preferable to planting indoors, constantly watering and then still needing to transplant later.
