K.PriebeYou’re a unique individual so why not add unique, diverse plants to your garden? Adding a variety of plants and herbs to your garden can spice up the atmosphere and flavor. According to, there are a couple of herbs that you can add to your garden that are exotic and unique. I picked three that stood out to me!

Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana). This sweet herb is a natural sugar substitute. At about 30 times sweeter than sugar, stevia will help keep your body’s blood sugar in check. According to, stevia rapidly heals wounds when placed directly on the cut. The possibility of scarring is also low. Stevia was approved by the FDA in 2008 as a general purpose sweetener. Try growing this unique herb in your garden. (Discover stevia-sweetened recipes.)

Black Pearl (Sunherbal). This plant is a cluster of edible chili peppers. Watch out—they are extremely hot! Grow this plant like any other pepper plant. Black pearl starts out black, then it will transform into a bright red color.

Chocolate Mint (Mentha piperita). This is an unusual herb that can add a lot of beauty to your exotic garden. A cocoa aroma emits from its leaves, which can be used in any recipe that calls for a mint chocolate flavor. You can grow these herbs on the ground, in garden beds, in containers or even in hanging baskets. Plant this herb away from others in your garden because it grows fast and can sometimes be invasive.
