Preventing Osteoporosis: Bone-Building Tea

  • Dandelion leaves are a great source of vitamin D.

Herbs such as oatstraw, nettle and dandelion all work to build strong bones.

• 1 quart water
• Oatstraw
• Nettle leaf
• Dandelion leaf
• Raspberry leaf
• Red clover fl owering tops
• Horsetail shoots

1. Boil water.

2. Turn off the heat. Blend herbs in equal parts.

3. Add 4 tablespoons of the herb blend.

4. Cover and steep 30 to 60 minutes, then strain. Drink 3 to 4 cups a day.

I recently read about dandelion leaves, based on what I learned I would call them a super food! They are full of all kinds of vitamins and minerals. I now go out in the yard to pick a few to add to my salad and my scrambled eggs. Just make sure no one has sprayed Round Up on the dandelions in your yard.
