Under the direction of architect Frank Gehry, HALL Winery achieved LEED Gold status.

HALL Winery St. Helena in the Napa Valley-area recently became the first California winery to earn the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold rating.

The construction project began in 2008 under celebrated architect Frank Gehry, whose most famous works include the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and whose work has earned him the Pritzker Prize, architecture’s highest honor.

“Building green is consistent with how we run our wine business, as is farming our vineyards organically,” President Mike Reynolds says. “Going for the LEED certification with our new winery building was a logical extension.”

The LEED Gold certification is the second highest rating awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program. This means the building had to earn at least 39 of 69 possible points.

HALL Winery’s employees give winery tours to building professionals and the public. If you’re not able to tour HALL Winery, watch an online video for a closer look.

In addition to building green, HALL Winery makes green a priority in its production process.
