  • Collect a couple of handfuls of smooth beach or river stones of varying sizes. Find a pleasing ceramic container with a drain hole in the bottom. Plant pots in all shapes and sizes—like these bonsai planters—were made for the job. Layer the larger stones at the bottom and smaller on the top. Just add soap. You can rinse the rocks in-situ every few weeks to keep them tidy.
