I am more of a classic cocktail kind of a gal. But back in the day, I knocked back my share of “girly” martinis. One might think of this as a tipple with training wheels, but seeing as it’s made with homebrewed hooch, I think it’s earned its big girl status.
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 3 ounces limoncello
• 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
• Freshly ground black pepper
• 1 lemon wedge
• 2 lemon slices (optional)
1. Pour the sugar onto a plate at least as wide as your martini glasses.
2. Combine the limoncello, lemon juice, and a few grinds of pepper in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 1 minute.
3. Rub the rims of two chilled martini glasses with the lemon wedge. Invert the glasses and press the rims on the plate to coat with sugar. Carefully strain half of the martini into each glass and serve, garnished with a lemon slice if you like. Serves 2
