Rebekah Sell

Occupation: Wife, Mom, Artist, Writer, Gardener, Farmer
Place of Residence: Omro, WI
Background:
I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Being a farmer’s kid defined who I was for many years. When I graduated from college, I had a degree in graphic design and a desire to live any other place than Wisconsin. However, after I was freshly married to my husband and we were expecting our first child, we were drawn back to the Midwest in order to take over my family farm. We would have 18 dairy cows, 80 sheep, 250 chickens and a small herd of grass-fed beef before the farm transition went sour. We had to leave it all, now with two children and a third on the way. After wandering around the state for a couple years, we returned to our original home: a little farmette across the street from my family farm!
Over the last 6 years, we have added a fourth child to our family and learned so much from our mistakes and successes. The farm I grew up on is still in family hands, but it looks much different than in years’ past. Our side of the road has been one long process of remodeling, renewing and growing as a family.
Current Projects:
Writing our family history, planning the 2019 garden, home-educating our eldest child, fundraising for the local library, running the Omro Area Historical Society
