In the lastest issue of Oprah's magazine, which I read with this morning's coffee, I saw these words in an article about cooking:
But it's the fresh herbs -- the parsley and the basil, chopped just seconds before being tossed into the warm mixture -- that transform these disparate food items into a meal. The scent along is joyful.
I tried to do the right thing and provide the story title and byline, but I was in such a hurry to get to work, I forgot to tear out that part of the story. I'll update as soon as I get it, 'cause I'm all about giving credit where it's due -- especially to other writers.
At any rate, I couldn't agree more. Herbs are what makes all the difference -- in the flavor of food, in the aromas that make life delicious. Food without herbs is like an eskimo pie without the chocolate. A strained metaphor if ever there were one, but it's late. At any rate, you get my drift. If you aren't cookin' with herbs, are we ever going to rock your world!
