It is recommended that preschoolers get at least 60 minutes of both structured and unstructured play time every day. Getting kids outdoors and into nature helps promote healthy child development physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially! Outdoor play is linked with children having a higher self esteem, longer attention spans and better performance at school. With all of the amazing benefits of play, it’s easy to see the importance of incorporating it into the daily schedule.

Here are 5 tips to make outdoor play simple:

1. Unplug! Turn off the television, handheld devices and phones. Declare the next hour “play time” and get the kids outside.

2. Have plenty of toys ready to engage them. Pull out the bikes, helmets, jump ropes, balls and let them play! They may ignore everything that you pulled out and move onto something better (like raking your newly planted flower bed), but it’s great to give them options. Nothing beats playing with mom and dad, so grab a hockey stick or wiffle ball bat and join in on the fun.

I taught my kids that staying in front of the computer for hours is not fun and it is more interesting to play outside with their friends, they invented a lot of outdoor activities and never get bored. Yesterday my wife showed me the http://www.atlantafamilyfuncenters.com website and proposed to take them to the Golden Glide fun center, I saw a lot of videos on YouTube taken at this fun center and I am sure my kids will love it.

My kids like to play outdoors and they have a lot of fun running and playing with other kids, actually they are not allowed to play video games on their computer at day, they did not like this rule at first but now they are OK with that. I love sailing and I take them in week-ends on my boat, the order from http://www.mmimarine.com/mmi/index.php?pid=prod&item=category should arrive this week and will be able to sail again, my kids will love to hear this news because this is the outdoor activity they love the most.
