Scented Essentials: Lavender Soap

| October/November 1995

In response to my grandmother’s gentle nudgings, I began experimenting with French and Spanish lavender oils. Lavender oil creates a soap that is stimulating and astringent. I often recommend it to people with acne or oily skin.

•  12 ounces lye
•  32 ounces water
•  24 ounces coconut oil
•  38 ounces vegetable shortening
•  24 ounces olive oil
•  4 ounces lavender oil
