Here Comes the Sun

seed starting

Get a jump start on the season with a cold frame--a growing bed framed with 2x4s and covered with an old window sash of a sheet of heavy plastic. Trapped sunlight will warm the soil inside this mini-greenhouse, allowing you to sow seeds of hardy herbs, such as parsley, dill, cilantro and chervil. Be sure to remove the cover on warm, sunny days, then replace it in the evening.
