My favorite find this week, from Milan Design Week 2011, demonstrates the “poetry of sustainability.” This stackable hemp chair designed by Berlin architect Werner Aisslinger is made by molding hemp fibers under heat with a water-based, formaldehyde-free glue. While it’s not yet on the market, the chair represents a breakthrough in using renewable, versatile hemp as a viable alternative to plastic.
