I added two new natural lip balms to my ever-growing collection last week (make that numbers 17 and 18 in my desk drawer!).

Numbers 17 and 18, otherwise known as Hurraw! Black Cherry Tinted Lip Balm and Hurraw! Tinted Cinnamon Lip Balm, tout themselves as all-natural, organic, vegan, raw and good. I can vouch for all of those claims (except for the organic part–I wish Hurraw! would go ahead and apply for USDA organic certification–but the company spells out online its reasoning for declining USDA organic certification), especially the last one. Hurraw! natural lip balms are velvety smooth without being sticky or greasy like most petroleum-based lip balms. The tinted balms add a hint of natural color without overpowering a makeup-less face; you get that just-kissed look plus a hint of cinnamon tingle (I love that!) or scent of delicious black cherries.

Hurraw!’s makers are just as obsessed with creating the perfect natural lip balm as I am with collecting the best natural lip balms. Hurraw!’s standards are high: source the best premium, raw, vegan ingredients (no beeswax in these natural lip balm bases), such as sweet almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil and olive oil and top them off with essential oil-flavorings and a dose of vitamin E for added moisture. All that goodness is packed into a #5 recyclable plastic 0.15-ounce oval tube. Check out the “Gimme 5” program to find places to recycle #5 plastic if your local recycler doesn’t accept it.

Hurraw! natural lip balm comes packaged in a reusable, unbleached cotton tea bag. Hurraw!’s logo is printed on the bag with food-safe, permanent ink. What a great, green alternative to plastic wrap–and a last-minute lifesaver when you’re out of tea bags for loose tea.

Hurraw! natural lip balms are available nationwide and in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and online. At 3.79 a pop, you may want to grab a couple fun flavors to taste and enjoy (knowing you aren’t licking petroleum off your lips!).
