Borrow and Lend With Thingloop

It kills me to own a tall ladder that I might use every two years; I’m much happier borrowing my neighbor’s and not having to store the cumbersome thing. Borrowing and lending items saves money as well as resources, and now a social tool called thingloop makies that easier to do. Thingloop connects you with people in your area with items to lend and helps you keep track of who has borrowed items from you. Once you’ve signed up for a free account, you can start groups with your friends and and neighbors and start uploading information about what you have to lend. You can choose what to share on a person-by-person or list basis.

Thingloop lets you import your e-mail contacts or search for your Facebook friends and also tracks the value of what you’re borrowing and lending, so you know exactly how much you’re saving. Right now, roughly $25,000 worth of goods, from DVDs and gaming systems to ladders, tool boxes and air mattresses, are being swapped.

If you enjoy borrowing and lending, also check out NeighborGoods, an online community that lets you share items with your neighbors and others in your area.
