Body & Soul: Buttermilk Baby Bath

article image
New moms and dads benefit from beauty treatments that nurture and soothe.

This gentle milk bath will leave your skin soft and silky and is mild enough to use when bathing your baby. Milk is rich in fat and lactic acid, and helps soften and hydrate skin. For a bit of aromatherapy, add a few drops of sweet orange oil or your favorite essential oil. Note: Always use caution when using essential oils in products for infants. Omit the essential oil when preparing this recipe for children younger than 6 months. MAKES 4 OUNCES

• 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk
• 1/4 cup whole dry buttermilk

1. Mix together all ingredients and pour into a clean, dry container.

2. To use, for adults pour 1/4 cup of the bath powder into a full bath of warm water. For infants, pour 1 tablespoon into a small baby bathtub.
