What are essential oils? These highly concentrated oils provide the essence of a plant’s flavor and smell, and can be very useful around the house.

A few drops of potent rosemary essential oil, for example, can boost the effectiveness of homemade natural cleaners; it is antibacterial and antiseptic. Inhaling the oil using a diffuser or massaging a mixture of rosemary essential oil and a carrier oil, such as almond or grapeseed (15 drops essential oil per fluid ounce carrier oil), can boost the mood and clear the respiratory tract.
