Enjoy a spa-like experience in your own home by adding floral essential oils to your shower routine.

Enjoy flowers year-round by incorporating these simple DIY ideas. It’s wise to do a reaction test before using essential oils: Combine a single drop with a carrier oil and test on a delicate patch of skin, such as the inner wrist.

• Start your shower with a burst of floral therapy. Add 5 to 10 drops of your favorite floral essential oil (try rose, jasmine or geranium) to the tub before turning on the shower. The steam coupled with the fragrance will deliver a spa-like experience.

• To keep the scent going, add several drops of floral essential oil to plain castile soap. Start small: Try 1 ounce of castile soap and 3 to 6 drops of essential oil.

• To soften your skin, blend floral essential oils with your favorite carrier oil (we like jojoba, almond and sunflower seed oils) for a custom body or massage oil. Use 3 to 6 drops of scent for every ounce of carrier oil.
