Rekindle a pagan tradition

The Yule Log was part of winter solstice celebrations dating back to the pagan Celts and Romans. Burning a ceremonial log ushered in the sun’s warmth during the shortest days of the year.

To make

Choose a split log that's flat on the bottom. We used a "hole cutter" drill bit (available at hardware stores) to drill holes in the log just deep enough to set the candles flush with the surface. The 1 11/16 size bit is perfect for tealights.
