Natural sink scrub with a future: A dispenser with a past.

Clean up your act without all the harsh chemicals. A nice mix of baking soda and borax makes the best clean scrub for your bath. But what to put it in? Find a small old-fashioned, mason jar with a screw-top. (You can’t walk into a junk store without seeing a few dozen of them). Drill several holes in the lid (you may have to break out the ceramic disk that lines the lid first). A handful of natural rubber bands stretched around the middle give the glass a jaunty new attitude as well as a non-slip grip.

Forward-to-the-past scrub

Our great-grandmothers certainly knew a good thing.

1 cup borax
1 cup baking soda
1/8 cup of lavender buds

Combine and mix the ingredients in the mason jar. Sprinkle on the sink, tub, or countertop, then use a scrubber, brush, or sponge to clean. Rinse thoroughly. The lavender should leave behind a fresh, clean scent.
