Carrot and Beet Juice Recipe

Great for increasing circulation and encouraging bowel elimination, beets contain a color pigment called betalain, which is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, fungicidal and detoxification aid. Recent studies from The American Heart Association concluded that drinking a small amount of fresh, raw beet juice not only lowers high blood pressure quickly and effectively but could also be a natural approach to reducing future cardiovascular problems. The ginger and chiles in this juice create a feeling of warmth and the sweetness of carrots gives a smooth, pleasurable taste.

• 1 pound carrots
• 1 medium beet
• 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper or fresh Serrano chile

Juice first three ingredients one at a time in a high-powered juicer. Whisk in cayenne after juicing. Makes about 20 ounces.
