Vases to bases
Here is a simple concept to let you display your mementos, artifacts and souvenirs in high style, while putting to use all those vases cluttering your storage closet. Inverted vases make great pedestals that elevate your trinkets to new heights. All it takes is a little artful composition and a change of perspective.
1. Vases come in all shapes and sizes. Nearly every household has at least a few, and inexpensive ones are a staple of junk stores and garage sales. Many of these pedestals require no more work than inverting the vase and placing the artifact on top of it.
2. To give the pedestal a bit more polish and to make a flat space for display, secure a tile, plate or scrap of wood to the inverted vase to act as a base for your collectible. To ensure your artifacts don’t topple, use a nontoxic, microcrystalline wax. Just roll a little pat of wax into a ball and place one on each corner of the vase bottom, then top it with your tile and press down firmly.
