Serves 8 to 10
• 2 quarts fresh tomato juice
• 1/4 cup lemon juice
• 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
• 1 pint lovage cordial (click here)
Combine all ingredients in a large glass pitcher and stir vigorously. Pour into tumblers over crushed ice. Garnish with lemon and fresh lovage stems with leaves or a lovage umbrella (below).
Lovage “Umbrella’’
To make an attractive garnish for drinks, cut a stalk of lovage the depth of your serving glass plus a few more inches. Cut thin slits about 11/4 inch long all around the top of the stalk, then dip the stem in ice water; top slices will curl to form an umbrella.
