Robyn Griggs Lawrence thumbnailLooking for an inexpensive way to produce biofuels? If your farm, company, co-op or community group is interested in producing food, fuel and jobs, Blume Distillation is now providing appropriate-scale distillation equipment that will allow farmers, entrepreneurs, municipalities and communities to produce their own alcohol fuel from a variety of readily available fuel stock sources.

As a liquid fuel, alcohol is cleaner burning and has a much higher octane rating than gasoline, according to Blume Distillation's website. “Appropriate scale bio-ethanol production has the potential to transform the energy landscape by harvesting abundant carbohydrate resources, not at the large scale (which you are familiar with in the form of giant corn ethanol plants), but rather at the small and medium scales, where the efficiencies are greatest,” the company states.

Blume Distillation will bring its turnkey appropriate–scale alcohol distillation systems to market in the next year. These systems, suited for both rural and urban locations, will produce from 10,000 to 250,000 gallons of alcohol fuel, along with a host of high-profit co-products, per year. Pricing will start around $35,000, and pre-ordering is now available.

For more information, email or visit the company’s website.
