Battle of the Bridesmaids Dresses

It's been a while since my last post, mainly because our team was involved in a monumental and thrilling project decorating the Blair House (the president's guest house in Washington D.C.) and the State Department's Harry S. Truman building for the holidays.

In the meantime, I have still been making some headway on wedding planning. I did a photo shoot with the help of Laura's Couture Collection in Shawnee Mission, Kansas (part of the Kansas City metropolitan area) in which I was able to try on dresses from some wonderful, eco-friendly designers: Adele WechslerPuridee and Lea Ann Belter. I will have photos of the shoot up in a couple of weeks so all of you go-green brides out there can get a good look at these gorgeous gowns.

I've been battling one big piece, however: bridesmaids dresses. Eco-friendly bridesmaid dresses are, thus far in my experience, nearly impossible to come by. Most allegedly eco-friendly options are only eco-friendly in their claims that the dresses can be reused. Now, I agree that this is an important factor: Buying a dress that's worn once and then trashed is about as far from sustainable as it gets. But where are the beautiful bridesmaid dresses made from actual eco-friendly fabrics? So far, I haven't found any. I am sure this is more a failure on my part than an indication that NO eco-friendly bridesmaid dresses exist. But where are they? Blog readers, please help! Point me in the right direction! And I will pass along the info to the many other brides that are out there searching as we speak.

Until next time...
