According to recent studies in NATURE, a British journal, a particular molecule (called Receptor Activated Nuclear Factor Kappa Ligand, or RANKL) found in breast cancer cells can be an indication of lethal disease. The study results indicate that drugs and compounds that block RANKL may help in slowing down the progression of advanced stages of breast cancer and may even prevent the early stages of the disease. One possible compound for this beneficial effect is curcumin, the active ingredient found in turmeric.
Turmeric has long been used for intestinal healing and skin health in Ayurvedic tradition and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Recent Western medical studies have provided evidence of the herb’s ability to reduce inflammation, protect cells, boost immunity with antioxidants, prevent cancer and slow the spread of cancerous cells.
Turmeric may slow down and prevent the spread of cancerous cells in the body.

The body absorbs turmeric best when it is combined with oil, as when it is eaten as part of a traditional Indian curry. Countries where turmeric is a regular part of the daily diet have lower rates of many cancers than nations such as the U.S. where turmeric is consumed only in smaller doses, primarily as a food coloring.
