Natural Home is taking submissions from innovative eco-cohousing developments in the United States and Canada. Please let us know if where you live (or where you wish you lived!) is healthy and sustainable. The top 10 cohousing communities will be named in the January/February 2009 issue.
Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 23. Please send all submissions to editor (at) naturalhomemagazine.com
Some attributes of green developments include:

Establishment of a unified community feel
Eco-friendly, nontoxic and recycled building materials
Mixed use with local businesses, shopping and schools within walking distance
Public transportation available
Primary residences (not vacation homes)
Urban infill site or reclamation of existing developed land
Located on a former brownfield site
Energy-efficient structures and/or Energy-Star certification
Native landscaping and gardening
Please include the name of the developments, location (city and state,) and a resource (such as a website) where we can go to learn more.
